Imagine you've built a funnel you're excited about, you're sending traffic to it, but it's not converting as well as you would like…
What do you do?
Many people give up on the funnel and assume it will never work.
But if you know there's a market for what you offer and your offer is good, chances are you're close to a winning funnel, it may just need one or two tweaks to get it to take off.

Funnel Optimization Strategy
Let's use a simple example of a funnel from ad clicks to opt-ins, purchases, and upsells, and explore how strategic adjustments can easily double its performance:
Ad > Lead magnet > $17 offer > $247 upsell
Let's say:
- You spend $1,000 on Facebook ads and get 1,000 visits to your landing page ($1 per click)
- Of those visitors, 400 people give their email address (a 40% opt in rate)
- Of those who opt in, 4 make a purchase (1%)
- Out of the 4 purchasers, 1 purchases the upsell (25%)
Look at these stats and think, what stands out as an area of weakness?
$1 per click on your ads is great, your 40% opt-in rate is pretty good and, although the numbers are too small to make any solid decisions, your upsell is looking very promising.
In this scenario, the obvious place to focus your attention is on the offer page.
So, what you should do here is create a variation of your offer page and tweak the following:
- Hook, story, offer: Can you create a stronger hook that grabs your reader, a story engages the audience emotionally and illustrates value, and an offer that is just too good to pass up?
- Social proof: Have you maximized your use of customer testimonials, expert endorsements, and user statistics to build trust and credibility?
- Scarcity and urgency: Have you integrated elements of scarcity (limited quantities) and/or urgency (limited time)?
Let's say you tweak these and the conversion rate for your offer jumps to 3%...
That means you'll now have 12 people purchase your offer!
Let's say your upsell conversion drops to 16% (2 people buy), that one tweak has taken your funnel from earning $315 to $698!
You now go back to the start: where do you think you can have the most impact?
You might now decide to test a new version of your opt in page OR now that you've added some urgency to your offer, you decide to send a 3 email follow-up sequence…
You find that simply reminding people what they're about to miss adds another 2%. Your offer is now converting at 5%!
You still have 400 people seeing your offer but now 20 purchase your low ticket and 3 purchase your upsell…
Your funnel is now earning $1081 from your $1000 investment!
What do you do now?
You go back to the start again.
You work on the next thing.
Let's say you simplify your opt-in page and test a stronger headline and to your surprise, your opt-in rate goes from 40% to 50%...
If the other conversion rates hold, your funnel that was initially earning $315 is now earning $1413. You're making a profit!
What do you do now? You know the answer.
