Sherry Green Mullins is a dynamic entrepreneur who has made her mark in multiple industries. In 2000, she built an international brand in the hunting industry with a patented product, eventually licensing her brand, Trophyline, to a larger organization. Her entrepreneurial journey led her to explore new ventures in rental properties and hunting-related products. In 2024, Sherry discovered ClickFunnels, revolutionizing her approach to internet marketing. This platform has empowered her to launch multiple business ideas, including "Scenic Route Life" for her rental properties and a new hunting community.
We sat down with Sherry to ask why she's been able to achieve such success across multiple industries.
Q: How can someone successfully manage and grow businesses in diverse industries?
A: Business success has no magic formula or guarantees—it's about the individual's drive, ambition, adaptability, and willingness to take risks. As my father said, "If you want to get somewhere in life, you have to stick your neck out." Business, like life, is full of ups and downs, and your success depends on how quickly you bounce back. Entrepreneurs can learn from their past, keeping valuable lessons and discarding what doesn't serve them.
Q: What inspired you to create "Scenic Route Life" for your rental properties, and how are you leveraging it to stand out in real estate?
A: In 2012, after the economic downturn, I founded Scenic Route, LLC to creatively recover. I purchased two properties on scenic highways, and while building our contracting business, my husband had a stroke in 2018. Despite challenges, I completed our projects and developed the idea of corporate rentals. This evolved into plans for a corporate retreat on our 25-acre property.
As our concept evolved, I began branding it as "Scenic Route Life." Building this new brand at this stage is ambitious, but I believe the combination of its evolution and discovering the power of ClickFunnels creates a unique, "blessed" opportunity. I envision expanding it, potentially even turning it into a franchisable concept.
Q: We know you have multiple businesses, products, and patents. Can you tell us about creating a product, protecting it, and why it's important, especially in a digital age?
A: Before starting a business, conducting thorough "Due Diligence" is essential to assess the viability of a product or idea and its market potential. Key considerations include market demand, price points, competition, and how to differentiate yourself.
If your product is unique or patentable, consult with an Intellectual Property Attorney to pursue a broad patent. However, avoid overly detailed claims, which may limit enforceability.
For trademarks, use the ™ symbol when introducing a new name or phrase in commerce. This helps protect your brand until you file an official trademark, which will protect your brand from copycats.
