Here's what I told them, and I'll tell you the same thing:
Within 800 days, every task done on a computer by a knowledge worker will be done better, faster, and cheaper by an AI.
That's not my number. That comes from Ahmad, one of the most respected AI researchers and open-source advocates working today. He published the paper. The thesis is well-supported. And every month we get closer, the timeline looks more accurate, not less.
800 days is roughly two years from now.
I wanted everyone in the room to feel that. Not panic. But wake up.
Because here's what I also told them:
The people who move now are on a completely different trajectory than the people who wait.
We had people in that company who'd been hesitant to use AI tools because they didn't have explicit permission. They didn't know if they were allowed to expense a $200 subscription. So they just... didn't.
That meeting changed that. We told everyone: there is no budget cap on AI tools. You have permission. Go.
By the end of the week, our CFO - a guy who is as buttoned-up as they come - was dancing in the back of the room because of what his AI breakthrough had done for his workflow.
That's the kind of shift we're talking about.
